Do the Facts Warrant Optimism?

The new year of 2011 had barely begun when third term Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford was brutally gunned down by an unstable 22 year old, Jared Lee Loughner, in Tucson where she was holding a town hall meeting, she called “Congress on Your Corner”. Among those murdered in the tragic melee were a 9 year old girl and a Federal Judge. It was yet another senseless, savage act to give one pause to ask, “What is this country coming to?”

The year began with our nation over $14 trillion in debt. In the first 19 months, the Obama administration added more to the national debt than all of our presidents from George Washington to Ronald Regan combined.

There are over a billion Muslims in the world, and though not all of them believe in jihad, millions of them have become radical or are so influenced by the radicals that they hate America and the free world. Many would give their lives or the lives of their children to kill as many of us as possible. We know that Pakistan, Iran and several Muslim countries have nuclear weapons. Depressing? Frightening? And yet I will show you a passage written to believers at a time of greater intensity, fear and danger that gives resounding reason for rejoicing, confidence and optimism!
